About Dr Eric Donaldson
Raised in Toowoomba, Dr Eric Donaldson attended Downlands College. He attained a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Queensland in 1986, and became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 1994.
Dr Donaldson is a member of both General Surgeons Australia and the Breast Surgeons Society of Australia and New Zealand (BreastSurgANZ). He is also a member of several advisory groups, including the Queensland Board of General Surgery and the Queensland Statewide Surgical Advisory Committee. Dr Donaldson currently sits on numerous sub-committees of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons including the Endocrine Surgery, Surgical Oncology and Rural Surgery Sections. He has presented at numerous Annual Scientific Congresses of the College of Surgeons.
He has served in the Australian Army, first joining the Queensland University Regiment in 1981, and was promoted to the rank of Major. Dr Donaldson deployed on active service as a surgeon in 1995 as part of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Rwanda (UNAMIR).
Dr Donaldson currently holds several clinical and teaching appointments in Toowoomba. He is the Director of Surgery at Toowoomba Base Hospital and a surgeon at BreastScreen Queensland. He is also a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland’s Rural Clinical School in Toowoomba.
Clinical Interests
Dr Donaldson is a qualified breast and general surgeon with extensive experience in endoscopic procedures. He is recognised by the Conjoint Committee for Recognition in Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (CCRTGE) to perform colonoscopy and gastroscopy procedures. Dr Donaldson is also currently recertified with the GESA Colonoscopy Recertification program, as required by the federal ACSQHC Colonoscopy Clinical Care Standards.

In his spare time, Dr Donaldson enjoys working on the family farm and playing rugby in the “Golden Oldies” league of the Toowoomba Bears Rugby Club. He has three adult children, all of whom have followed in his footsteps and have pursued careers in medicine.
